07/01/06: See VDI's High-Efficiency Quadrupler to 120 GHz.
VDI recently introduced a new high-efficiency frequency quadrupler for the 108-133 GHz band. The frequency multiplier does not employ any mechanical tuners and may be electronically swept to any frequency in the band. The design is all solid state using planar GaAs technology. The component is mechanically and electrically robust. The peak quadrupler efficiency is greater than 16 % using 1 W drive levels. Versions of the new component for other frequency bands are under development.
